Hello all,
The pathology is back and only the sentinel lymph node was positive for cancer. All other lymph nodes were clear. Also, the other masses in my breast was not cancerous. The means we are at stage 3a. Good news. Every time I say it is good news it feels strange since I have cancer and that is not good news. But...yay!
I will meet with a couple medical oncologists in the coming weeks but from the sound of it, I will not need radiation and it is unclear whether I will need chemo. With all of the info they have, I seem to be on the borderline for chemo/no chemo.
I vote NO CHEMO!
Summary of upcoming events:
*heal from mastectomy for the next few weeks
*go to Italy in middle of February (for real yay!)
*come home to either chemo, wait 6 months and then 1 more surgeryor*no chemo and 1 more surgery sooneror*some alternative treatment plan that involves witch doctors and other people I like instead of chemo and then 1 more surgery.
It has been so wonderful to hear from all you, whether through visits, dog walks, food, high fives, presents, or words. I am a very lucky lady to call you all my friends.
xo, A
